The First CNAS Executive Committee Meeting was Held in Beijing

The first China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) Executive Committee meeting was held in Beijing on 24 November 2006. Mr. Sun Dawei, Administrative Deputy Director of CNAS and Deputy Director of CNAS Executive committee, presided the meeting. Madam Wang Fengqing, Director of CNAS and CNAS Executive Committee, made an important speech in the meeting. Director of CNAS Appeal Committee, Director of Department for Certification, CNCA (Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China), CNAS Deputy Chief Executive, Assistant Chief Executive and Secretariat staff also attended the meeting.
 
The CNAS Executive Committee is composed by Chair, Executive vice Chair, vice Chairs of CNAS Board and Chief Executive of CNAS Secretariat, which are representatives respectively from the accreditation-related government departments, conformity assessment bodies, clients of conformity assessment services, users of conformity assessment and relevant professional bodies and technical experts etc.
 
CNAS Chief Executive, Mr. Xiao Jianhua, made a report on the main activities of CNAS Secretariat in 2006 and the key events in 2007. Measures on the classification of certification bodies, development of Technical Committee for Laboratories, Technical Committee for Inspection Bodies and Appraisal Committee, current situation of international cooperations, and matters on international peer evaluation were specially introduced in the meeting. CNAS BoardExecutive Committee Procedural Rules and Proposal on Increasing the Number of Executive Committee Members were reviewed in the meeting. The meeting plan of CNAS Board and special committees were also discussed. This meeting, which will have an important effect on CNAS activities, is a significant activity after the establishment of CNAS on 31 March 2006.
