IAF China Day was Held in Beijing

On 9 June 2007, IAF China Day, which was organized by International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), was held in Beijing. Mr. Li Changjiang, Minister of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ), presented at the event and made welcome speech. Nine special lectures were given by Mr. Sun Dawei, Chief Administrator of Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA), Dr. Thomas Facklam, the Chair of IAF, and other representatives. Madam Wang Fengqing, Chairperson of CNAS, made summing-up speech. The event was jointly chaired by Ms. Elva Nilsen, Vice Chair of IAF, and Mr. Xiao Jianhua, Chief Executive of CNAS. Totally more than 200 people attended the meeting, including the members of IAF Executive Committee, relevant officers of CNCA, relevant members of CNAS Board and technical committees, representatives from industries and certification bodies, and experts.

The aim of this activity is to hear the experience, opinion and improving suggestion from the end users on accredited certification of Quality (ISO9001) and Environmental (ISO14001) Management Systems, which will be used as input for IAF to further study the opportunities to improve accredited certification for QMS and EMS.

During the meeting, the IAF Chair and chairs of 4 permanent committees expressed their satisfaction to the event.

After the IAF China Day, IAF and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) held a series of committee meetings from 10 June to 15 June, including the meetings of respective Executive Committees, IAF/ILAC Joint Committee for Closer Cooperation (JCCC), IAF MLA Management Committee (MLA MC), ILAC Arrangement Management Committee (AMC) and IAF/ILAC Joint Work Group (JWG) for A Series Documents.
