Since 2008 China National Accreditation Service (CNAS) has started the program of validation audit on certification bodies. Through three years of study and pilot program, CNAS has launched validation audit on full scale in 2011.
In 2008 CNAS formally started the preparation of validation audit. In CNAS Technical Committee meeting in February, 2008, the members discussed and passed “Plan of Developing Validation Audit”. A Special Work Group was founded to commence the research and preparation. The pilot program of validation audit of 37 certified organizations was implemented between 2009 and 2010.
In 2011 CNAS launched validation audit on full scale and issued public documents and meanwhile formulated Procedure of audit Validation. This work has been brought into CNAS’s management system.
So far, CNAS has conducted validation audit on 102 certified organizations; involving 15 CBs. It has been an effective supplement to regular accreditation surveillance of CNAS.
