Under the strong impetus of the Chinese government's in-depth implementation of the strategy to build a quality nation, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) held a series of events in Shanghai on June 5, 2025, to celebrate the 2025 World Accreditation Day festivities.
The events invited distinguished guests including Jennifer Evans, Chair of Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC), Celestine Okanya, Chairman of Pan African Quality Infrastructure (PAQI) and Chair of Africa Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC), Oswald S. Chinyamakobvu, African Union Commission’s Senior Technical Expert of Standards and Quality Infrastructure, Dr. Nathan Sing’ambwa, Executive Director of Zambia Bureau of Standards, Mr. Ngeny Biwott, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), Lucy Namu, Chief Manager of Laboratory Accreditation of KENAS, Mr. Brahim Houla, Accreditation Services Director of GCC Accreditation Center, and Mr. Chan Pei-cheong, President of Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA). Over 300 representatives from nine countries participated, bringing perspectives from government departments, industry organizations, conformity assessment bodies, and enterprises. Together, they explored the potential and value of accreditation in enabling the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promoting supply chain collaboration. The event featured the release of typical case studies demonstrating how China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) empowers SME development. A dedicated thematic meeting on "Accreditation Empowering SMEs Development" was also held, fully showcasing the multi-dimensional value of accreditation in fostering SME growth.
It is reported that China's annual World Accreditation Day theme activities are closely aligned with national development needs. With broad participation from the government, industry organizations, and various sectors of society, these activities hold significant influence within the international community. They have become a signature international event brand in the field of accreditation and conformity assessment with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
